The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 南北的相爱相杀系列，借助数学这个学术分支展现政治利益关系的同时也披露了当下社会的教育系统的丑态。有值得夸赞的地方，但因为翻译、剪辑、情节的原因，属于主要两个人物身上要呈现的故事命题减弱了许多，悬在了空中，摇摇欲坠。所以不是很过瘾，两个小时的确有点浪费了。/好一个음악의 아버지巴赫，어머니韩德尔，삼촌贝多芬，大提琴组曲有说不清楚的美，上一年听得最多的古典音乐，不是贝五不是月光也不是四季春，就是巴赫的大提琴组曲No.1。电影将π用简谱弹奏出来时，数字是流动的，公式是美丽的，音乐将神秘冷酷的密码融化了，我不懂数学啦，但我知道音乐的无限之美，那数学应该也是一样。
比较温情，男人的友谊？我以为是爽片，但不是。

还以为虎头虎脑的男主会成为一个革命者，没想到背叛了自己的阶级。但他作为一个赤贫者，能受谴责吗？ 像圣保罗这样的血汗黑工，我们90年代广东某些工厂也应该存在过。还好，电影中的黑工没有被铁链锁起来。 世界如此不公，发生过无数次阶级革命，可是革命过后一切如旧，不过是换了一茬人罢了。
描写的很真实，人都是为自己考虑的，在泥潭一样的世界里，你会做怎样的选择？

影片平平，但是崔岷植真的太耀眼了，就算被他放在烂片里，都无法掩盖他的演技。每根头发都在演戏啊
若《浮俘》的渔民苦力尚是被遮掩的奴役，尚有对错之分、渔民的反戈一击存在“正当防卫”的合理性，《七囚徒》则是光明正大地拐卖人口，是《用后即弃的人》的所言及的“新奴隶制”，以致于男主角最终决定投诚，我们会认为是一个正确的决定，我们很快被这种经济、权力地位的提升所鼓舞，庆幸可以从第一视角感知人生的阶层跨越、焕然一新，所以我们会快乐，替男主松口气，却忘记铁门后眼巴巴被囚禁的其他人。这也是金钱至上的价值观反复驯化的结果，导演让观众变成小丑，一步一步成为恶的帮凶，放弃正义、善，并声称“不得已”。糟糕的人情社会中，连恶势力都会成为参政议员高升的靠山，而恶势力掌握的则是底层没有机会出人投地的劳动力，因为他们拥有合法的枪支。底层从黑社会体系中以暴力、以服膺获取升迁进而洗白，竟成了唯一出路，令人倍感惊悚。
我不想去care拍片人的意图，这样的两个人，这样的情谊，很难不动容，
